IOWA RULES & POLICIES

State Championship Guidelines

Bids for both compulsory and optional state meets will be accepted until June 30th preceding the meets. Completed bid forms should be mailed to Kelly Dornon-Heimsoth, 5510 Christy Rd, Sioux City, IA 51106. All bids will be presented to the state committee for their consideration.

Individual awards for the state meets will be ordered by the Iowa SC. A count of gold, silver and bronze medals should be reported two weeks prior to the meet date to ensure prompt delivery from the designated USAG award company. Team trophies should be ordered by the host club. Awards will go at least 50% deep for both individuals and teams.

Judges for the State Championships will be determined by the SAC. They will be chosen from an approved list of current judges within the state of Iowa and Region 4. The State Judging Director will forward a list of available judges to the SC for consideration by the SAC. The MD must send a Request for Judges to Iowa’s SJD.

Age groups will be determined by the SAC via email once all entries have been received.

The state meet director will be responsible for following all rules of competition as posted in the USAG Rules and Policies. The MD will collect the Iowa Competition fees and forms along with the state entries. These fees/forms will be given to the SC at the state meet. The MD will be required to complete a financial report form due to the SC within two weeks following the state meet. In addition the MD will pay $5.00/gymnast to Region 4. This check must also be given to the SC at the state meet.

Entries to the Iowa state meets will be due at least 14 days prior to the meet date. Late qualifiers will be accepted up until one week prior to the meet provided that 1) the late entry is received within 24 hours after the last qualifying meet (Fed Ex may be necessary) and 2) a $10.00 late charge must be added to the entry fee.

Entry fees are as follows:
Level 4-6 $45.00/gymnast
Level 7-10 $65.00/gymnast
Teams $30.00/team

State Qualifying Scores:
Level 4 30.00 AA
Level 5 29.00 AA
Level 6 29.00 AA
Level 7/8 30.00 AA achieved at any sanctioned meet.
Level 9/10 30.00 AA with a guarantee of 75 gymnasts.

Gymnasts may qualify from the state meet to the Region 4 Championships by score. Level 9 and 10 gymnasts need a 34.00 AA. All Level 8 gymnasts scoring a 35.00 AA or above will qualify for regionals. The top 9 gymnasts regardless of age group will make up Iowa’s Level 8 Super Team.

Event Specialists will be included in the Iowa State Championships.

Team Competition will count the top three individual scores on each event.

Iowa will impose a $10/gymnast competition fee each year. A State Competition Fee Collection form will be included in the mailing of each state meet entry. You must complete the form and return it along with $10/athlete. Forms and fees should be mailed to the state meet director along with your state entry forms and fees. ALL FORMS AND FEES SHOULD BE KEPT SEPARATE! Checks for Iowa’s Competition Fee must be written to Iowa USAG. All competition forms/fees will be turned over to the SC at the state meet.


GENERAL MEET GUIDELINES
Level 4 and Level 5 gymnasts will receive achievement ribbons as well as placement awards.

NAWGJ will be the assigning body for Iowa USAG. Requests for judges should be sent to the Iowa SJD for assignment along with $3.00/judge. It is permissible to request judges if there is a preference. Contact Windee Weiss, 1226 Fleur Drive, Waterloo IA 50701.

MISCELLANEOUS
Insufficient check guidelines have been set forth for the protection of the host gyms.
1) A host gym who receives an insufficient check may lodge a formal complaint with the Iowa SAC.
2) Any gym that writes an insufficient check for entries at any time during the season will be required to issue a certified check for entry into the state meet.

Contributor of the Year awards will be given each year. The award may be given to anyone who has given of themselves to the sport of gymnastics. Awards will be presented at a regional gathering at National Congress.

Elections for Iowa’s SAC will be conducted every two years on even years.
